Lord Carey
Former Archbishop of Canterbury

"[My cross] is something I wear with pride; I’m not ashamed of it. But in our country and many other parts of the western world Christians are under attack, they’re silenced at work, and this is an opportunity for all Christians in Britain to be proud of the cross once again, not to be ashamed of it, because the Christian faith has done so much good to our society. We see it in our laws, we see it in our history, we see it in the many hospitals and schools of our land and throughout the world. That’s why I ask so many of you to get behind this campaign, and for you, me, not to be ashamed."

Rt Revd Donald Allister
Bishop of Peterborough

Extracted from the Bishop of Peterborough's address at the Diocesan Synod: "[A] campaign has recently been launched which I do want to support and commend. Entitled Not Ashamed it encourages Christians to stand up and be counted. Romans 1:16 says “I am not ashamed of the gospel” and 2 Timothy 1:12 says “I am not ashamed, for I know the one in whom I have put my trust”. There are also verses in Hebrews which tell us that God is not ashamed of us – those are worth pondering ... And if you don’t like the Not Ashamed merchandise please don’t moan about it: just wear a cross or another distinctive Christian symbol, and be ready to stand up publicly for Christ. We need to do this, not least to encourage one another, to put the confidence back into our Christianity."

Dr Patrick Sookhdeo
Barnabas Fund

"Barnabas Fund is delighted to be supporting Christian Concern's "Not Ashamed" campaign, especially given its close alignment with the aims of Operation Nehemiah. In the face of aggressive secularism and radical Islam, it is vital that Christians come together and speak up publicly and with confidence in Jesus Christ and the values and vision of society that issue from Him. If we fail to do so, we can expect our nation's Christian foundation to be eroded more quickly and the disappearance of the freedom, justice and compassion that so many take for granted. Our country could look very different, very quickly, if we don't stand up for Jesus Christ in public life."
